Why You Should Listen To Your Soul
Sometimes we go down to go up. High up. Higher up than we’ve ever been before. Floating around the sky like a balloon that managed to escape the dying Birthday bash. Sometimes we have to go deep down into the darkness. Sometimes we have to question everything we’ve ever known to be true. Sometimes we have to lose ourselves to find out who we are again.
I lost myself for a while. Many of you were along for the ride. I was an eternal optimist who suddenly found herself spiritless. It was a time where I fell so deeply that no one could help me. I had no strength so I had to make it with my bare hands. I had to go so deep to where nothing was to find a reason for living, a reason for trusting that people are good and honest and trustworthy. And many of you sent me beautiful words of support, and I found my heart beating with each one of you. For those letters I am eternally grateful.
The good news is here: I have found myself again, and this time it’s bigger than I could have imagined. It’s all clear. It’s all so clearly love. Everything was happening for me all along.
How could that have been anything but love?
When we’re in the dark we can’t see a damn thing in front of us. We might know in theory that things get better, but we can’t feel the potential. All we feel is pain, pain everywhere in everything.
But it ends. It can end. You can find your way back to your soul, but you have to let go of everything to get there. You have to be willing to release everything you’ve known and everything you think you want. You have to be willing to want something else, something new, something you maybe can’t imagine right now.
On the other side of your pain is an opportunity for you to grow into the big blissful ball of beauty that you are here to be. You have a chance to grow into a bigger heart, to transmute your bitterness into forgiveness, and to surrender everything to your soul’s calling.
Your soul is here to guide you on your path.
Your soul is not confused. It doesn’t worry about whether or not you’re doing the right thing. It’s a wise old woman. She knows what you need, when you need it, and how it needs to show up. She is brave. She takes risks, but she also knows that risk doesn’t exist in her world.
She speak confidently and knows exactly what to say and when to say it. She is trust itself. She is love itself. She is joy itself. She is on fire with desire. She is jumping up and down cheering you on, always ready for the next big adventure.
She is tender. She soothes you when you need lullabying. She holds your hand when you need holding. She whispers all the words you need to hear when you’re willing to listen.
She cares more than anything or anyone could possibly care about anything or anyone. She is overflowing with so much love she can’t give it away fast enough. She is sparkly and glittery like a disco ball. She is deep and soulful like some good R&B. She is like a little girl jumping rope, an aging oracle, and a strong oaky man all bundled into one.
She is your soul, and she needs you to live her, to breathe her, to devote yourself to her. But more than that, you need her. You need her so you can feel satisfied, so you can feel at peace, so you can feel the desire burning through your being. You need your soul so you can feel complete.
