Choose Yourself Challenge
 

Every moment is a choice. You can choose to show up for yourself or you can choose to stay small. If you're rolling your eyes right now because you're sick of hearing that everything is a choice then I bet you haven't chosen yourself yet. When you choose yourself your life starts to change. When your life starts to change you don't roll your eyes. You open them. Wide. 

Your eyes open wide when your heart opens. They work together. When your heart opens you begin to see the world differently. You feel different, and so life takes on different meaning.

If you know me you know how a simple breathing practice dramatically changed my life. It changed me, and then I stopped doing it. How insane is that? 

We usually seek out tools when we're in pain. Then we feel better and stop using them.

But what if we chose to use the tools every single day no matter how we're feeling?

What if we chose ourselves every single day because there's something bigger we want for our lives? What if we decided that discovering more about who it is we actually are and why we're here is too important to skip for even a single day?

i challenge you to choose yourself.

To Choose Yourself means that you choose to do what serves your highest self, and in this challenge you'll be Choosing Yourself for 30 days in a row. This is non-negotiable work. That means you don't give yourself an out. You don't skip for a day, and you don't give yourself a break. Not when it comes to Choosing Yourself.

In this challenge you'll be committing to doing one or more things every single morning. You get to choose whatever that thing is that you're going to do because only you know what serves you. I highly suggest it's a type of meditation. If you've worked with me you might want to make it Breathwork. It could be a sitting meditation. It should be something that feels true to your soul journey. You might want some add ons like smudging, yoga, running, hiking, writing, pulling an Oracle card, affirmations, etc.

what inspired this challenge

This challenge was inspired by a remarkable weekend I had at an event called Evolving Out Loud lead by an incredible human named Kyle Cease. If you haven't heard of him I highly recommend checking him out. When you sign up for the challenge you'll learn more about what my challenge to myself is and what I put on the line.

  • I, Diane Sass, commit to 30 days of meditation 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes before bed and writing in my journal every day. If I miss even a single day I will give up my cell phone for 5 days.
  • I, Kirsten Stephens, commit to 30 days of abstinence from alcohol and saying my affirmation prayer every morning and evening . If I miss even a single day I will paint my bedroom (trust me this may sound like a pleasant, meditative task to most people, to me it's worse then donating to Trump!!! and that says a lot).

  • I, Christie Mattull, commit to 30 days of 30 minutes of morning Holosync meditation, along with completing at least one page in the gratitude journal I just started. If I miss even a single day I will abstain from reading, television or going out for dinner/drinks with my friends for two weeks (in other words, no entertainment).

  • I, Marielle Roppo, commit to 30 days of 20 minutes of meditation, 20 affirmations in the mirror, and 5 minutes of journaling. If I miss even a single day I will abstain from phone and computer (for purposes other than work) for 30 days.

  • I, Melissa Vallieres, commit to 30 days of 20 minutes of yoga. If I miss even a single day I will cut Netflix for a month.

  • I, Patricia Switzer, commit to 30 days of at least 10 mins of shamita meditation,(but shooting for 20!), awaken my heart by saying hello to it until I get a 'response' back/feeling of aliveness, and also commit to writing 3 pages of 'Morning Pages'. If I miss even a single day I will not be allowed to eat any dark chocolate in any way, shape, form, or liquid for 3 days!

  • I, Sera May, commit to 30 days of 15 minutes of meditation and 15 minutes of yoga. If I miss even a single day I will cancel the reservations for the whitewater SUP clinic I've been dreaming about for a year.

  • I, Rita Bou-mjahed, commit to 30 days of 15 minute meditations and 15 minute Journaling session immediately following. If I miss even a single day I will refrain from using or checking my phone/social media for a full week. 

  • For the next 30 days I, Eamonn Pollock, commit to 20 minutes of Breath and Body/Love and Kindness Meditation in the Morning, 20 minutes sitting meditation in the evening, 2 3 minute breathing space meditations during the day, along with two hour long yoga sessions a week and visits to the gym. Should a loss a day then I will listen to crappy music and eat a hot chilli pepper.

  • I, Jaime Gunter, commit to 30 days of limited alcohol, positive self talk and love, not listening to emotional music, and not texting my ex. If I miss even a single day I will get off facebook for the rest of my 30 days.

  • I, Kristy Antonacci, will commit to 30 days of 10 mins of guided meditation and 10 minutes of heart-focused journaling, 5 min review of core desired feelings and affirmations each morning. Each evening I will take 20 minutes to either read or move my gorgeous body with dance or yoga. If I miss even a single day I cannot have any alcohol or pizza for 1 month post slip-up and will restart!

  • I, Bria, for next 47 days (until my 33rd birthday), will write down or say to myself, "I choose Me. I love Me. I will be gentle and kind to myself. I will respect the balance that is life. I will FLY!" I will make a simple origami each day for my daughter, as a surprise at the end of the challenge. If I miss even a single day, I will sign up for the Honolulu Marathon and run it in December. 

  • For the next 30 days I, Ryanne James commit to thirty minutes of journalling/refection work on healing my heart and finding love for myself, and a two minute visualization and daily affirmation. I will bring my best and most enthusiastic, strength building attitude to my daily workouts to ensure that I make the most of my time and I commit to truly challenging myself and encouraging those around me. If I miss even one day I will volunteer to host the Co-op Kids Christmas Give Away Room. 

  • For the next 30 days, I, Michelle Luu-George, commit to 20 minutes of yoga, 10 minutes of journaling, and 30+ minutes of reading for enjoyment. If I miss even a single day I will give up coffee for a month.

  • I, Laura Stanley, commit to 30 days of 10 minute daily mediation. If I miss even a single day I will donate to some terrible organization. 

  • I Rebecca commit to 30 days of 20 min mediation. If a miss a single day I will get back up and continue on in my commitment. 

  • For the next 30 days I, Vass Ktt, commit to 15 minutes of meditation, 30 minutes of Pilates, 5 minutes of practicing positive thinking and self-love, 10 minutes of mindfulness colouring, and a bicycle ride once a week. If I miss even one day, I will abstain from checking Instagram, watching Netflix, and eating my favourite dark chocolate for a week.

  • I, Olesia Kozuliak, commit to 30 days of meditation 10 minutes and 5 minutes of journaling in the morning. If I miss even a single day I will stop talking on the phone for a week.

Choose Yourself Challenge
  • For the Next 30 Days, I Natalie Beauchamp, commit to 20 minutes of Meditation, as well as completing my physio exercises and nourishing myself with breakfast every morning. 💗 If I miss even a single day I will abstain from social media and chocolate for two weeks. (This is huge since I'm slightly addicted to both).

  • I, Chelsea Simpson, commit to 30 days of self love and personal development. Every morning I will do my morning mediation, take time to focus on visualization and goal setting then read, write and stretch every night before bed.  I want to focus on yoga for my body mind and soul. The next 30 days I want to be the best version of myself. If I miss even a single day I will donate money to a charity I do not support and give up my favourite vinyls to a thrift shop.

  • I, Emilee Engle, commit to 30 days of at least 10 minutes of meditation and 16 ounces of water every morning.  If I miss a single day, I will give up Facebook and sweet treats for 14 days.

  • I, Tyra Pirbhai, commit to 30 days of 15 minutes of breath-work, 7 minutes of meditating and 3 minutes of visualizing. If I miss even a single day I will eat a block of cheese (I despise cheese).

  • I, Michelle Ryan, commit to 30 days of 12 sun salutations and positive mirror talk . If I miss even a single day I will give up eating out for one week.

  • I, Alejandro Carreras, commit to 30 days of waking up early to write with my morning cup of coffee. If I miss even a single day I will give up my phone for 24 hours.

  • I, Kelly Garlisch, commit to 30 days of 10+ minutes of meditation, 10+ minutes of reading for enjoyment, and 3 items in my gratitude journal every day. If I miss even a single day I will give up coffee for a month.

  • I, Jennifer Huang, commit to 30 days of dedicated 15 minutes of sitting and marinating in my desire and excitement and receiving inspiration for the practice I am beginning to share. If I miss even a single day I will be gentle with myself and make up the time another day.

  • I, Stacy Farm, commit to a 30 minutes of sitting meditation and reading a chapter of any book for the next 30 days. If I miss even one day I will eat a piece of durian and 100 times of star jump nonstop. 

  • I, Kristine Kumangai, commit to 30 days of 15 minute morning meditation, reciting 3 affirmations and daily journaling. If I miss even a single day I will abstain from my daily coffee consumption for THIRTY DAYS!

  • For the next 54 days I, Ryanne James commit to thirty minutes of journalling/refection work on healing my heart and finding love for myself, and a two minute visualization and daily affirmation. I will bring my best and most enthusiastic, strength building attitude to my daily workouts to ensure that I make the most of my time and I commit to truly challenging myself and encouraging those around me.   • I, Theo Vora, commit to 30 days of 15 minutes of Anapana meditation. If I miss even a single day I will, start all over again from day 1 until I have completed 30 days consecutively.

  • I, Mara Nelson, commit to 30 days of 15 minutes of legs-up-the-wall and 15 minutes of meditation. If I miss even a single day I will donate $100 to Trump.   

  • I, Andrea Baty, commit to 30 days of starting the day with a glass of water, 10 minutes of breathwork, and completing an exercise routine. If I miss even a single day I will not be able to eat any chocolate for one month.

  • For the next 30 days I, Rita Scofield, commit to 5-10 minutes of meditation a day, 15 affirmations, and 30 minutes of exercise. If I miss even a single day I will give up coffee and Instagram for 2 weeks.
