Make Your Art | Pushing Beauty

Why make art?

For many of us we have a soul calling to create, and we push it away because we're afraid. We're afraid to be seen and heard. We're afraid we're not good enough. We compare ourselves to everyone else. We make up excuses about not having enough time.

Our souls don't care. Our souls need us to show up. Our souls want us to write, to sing, to create. And when we don't listen we suffer. Sometimes even to the detriment to our health.

I'm creating this group because I wouldn't have finished my own book if it weren't for a group just like this one. This is a support group to help hold you accountable for creating whatever it is your soul wants you to create while you're here on this little blue dot.

If calling yourself an artist feels foreign to you let me share some words from Seth Godin who defines art in this way:

Art is what we call...

the thing an artist does.

It's not the medium or the oil or the price or whether it hangs on a wall or you eat it. What matters, what makes it art, is that the person who made it overcame the resistance, ignored the voice of doubt and made something worth making. Something risky. Something human.

Art is not in the eye of the beholder. It's in the soul of the artist.

Who it’s for

Open to anyone looking for support in moving through the blocks holding them back from making more of their art whether it be writing, painting, drawing, song, or any other creative project.

The Structure

Each person will get a check in about what they’ve accomplished during the week, where they are stuck, etc. Once each person is seen and heard we’ll go back around the circle to those who want to share more about what they are working on. You can read something you’ve written, perform a song you wrote, or show your art to the group.

Weekly meetings on Thursdays at 6pm PST (will run about an hour to an hour and a half depending on number of participants)
2-month minimum commitment (month of Sept & Oct), $40/month after that
There will be a Facebook group for check ins when you can't make it to the call.
